Robyn Rigney

Robyn graduated from The Queensland Conservatorium of Music (Instrumental) in 1987 with a Diploma of Music majoring in Piano with Flute as a minor study. While completing a Bachelor of Arts at Queensland University between 2001 and 2004, Robyn studied composition and participated in the Chamber Music program where she was the Pianist for the Marvin Trio where they performed at the University, Customs House, various Brisbane schools, select private functions and the International Italian Music Festival at Toorak House, Melbourne in January 2005.

Robyn has also written music and soundscapes for theatre including the 1994 Out of the Box festivals performance of Roald Dahls The Magic Finger. Robyn has 20 years teaching experience, working with students one on one and group tuition covering ages as young as 4 through to semi-retired professionals in their 70’s.

Robyn focuses on bringing new piano solos for beginners that are enjoyable for student and audience. These solos can be developed into ensembles and provide a foundation for improvisation. Robyn encourages students to experience the joy of working in ensembles as well as the individual satisfaction of creating their own music or arranging parts, as well as playing and performing the multitudes of magnificent music available to us today.

She has completed the AMEB A.Mus.A in 1986 and AMEB Musicianship Grade 6 in 1984. Robyn believes the piano with the pitch range of an orchestra is a wonderful foundation, individually satisfying, a great friend and music itself is a lifelong interest. She is happy to teach for leisure and to prepare students for exams for both piano and theory. Lessons reflect all these values and experiences.
